Early-intervention programme

PlannerPath Foundations

A national financial literacy programme equipping young people aged 11–15 with the knowledge, habits, and confidence to make informed financial decisions for life.

Programme mission

To close the financial literacy gap before it begins.

Ensuring every young person understands how to earn, manage, and protect money before entering adulthood.

Curriculum

Programme structure.

01

First Earnings

  • What work is allowed under UK law (ages 13–15)
  • How young people can earn safely (dog walking, small jobs)
  • Understanding effort → income
Outcome: Students complete a “First Earnings Plan”
02

Money Fundamentals

  • What money is and how it flows
  • Banks, accounts, and digital money
  • Needs vs wants
Outcome: Students build their first personal budget
03

Saving & Behaviour

  • Short-term vs long-term thinking
  • Goal-based saving
Outcome: Each student sets a 3-month savings goal
04

The Truth About Debt

  • What borrowing really means
  • How interest works (simple examples)
  • Why credit cards can trap people
Outcome: Students explain (in their own words) how debt grows
05

Future Mindset

  • Introduction to long-term thinking
  • Linking skills → income → opportunity

Outcomes

Measurable impact.

  • % who start saving within 30 days
